About the Artist
I became interested in art as a teenager, and began my major in art when I entered college. I succumbed to the financial benefits of a business major after a couple of years and although I continued to remain active in art, I eventually began to practice it less and less. Paying the bills seemed to command a greater priority.
My mother and grandmother were both artists and I loved what they did, but mostly I loved that they loved what they did. They both painted in oils, and although I appreciated their paintings, I really had no interest in oil painting. I had always admired the watercolor painters and thought that someday I might try my hand at it.
The clock ticked on . . . and 40 years later, the opportunity presented itself and I struck while the iron was hot. We had moved to the Nashville area and a local artist in our community was teaching watercolor painting. Thanks for being there, Dave.
I began learning to paint in watercolor about 2 years ago and my compass has been set since. I lean a little to the abstract so the play with colors, light, shadows, obscure subjects and composition has spiked my interest to no end. I draw inspiration from photos that peak my interest or from day to day experiences that get my attention.
Since each painting takes a week or two my portfolio is still small but growing every week, so I would be privileged if you wanted to check back from time to time to see what I’ve been up to.
I extend my appreciation to my family and friends for their support and inspirations for several paintings. My wife, Raeanne, is the ultimate sounding board with comments like "Ahh." or "That's really good." or "So-So." and "That's'Creepy."
I hope you enjoy what you see and if you see something you like, please let me know. If you are inclined to want something to hang in your home or garage, most of what you will see is available in limited editions, signed sealed and delivered.
